Capacitance discharge type magneto non-contacting electronic device(named CDI),With its excellent ignition performance, Higher ignition reliability, and simple ignition circuit design, CDI is widely used in the small and medium-sized motorcycle engine.

Capactiance discharge type magneto non-contacting electronic device is also named AC-CDI,the device makes up three parts, as picture 1.
A)Charging part includes: Flywheel magnetic steel,charge coil L1,commutation diode D1 and energy-storage capacitor C1.
B)Discharging part includes: Control magnetoelectricity(on flywheel magnetic steel),control coil(also called trigger coil L2) and silicon-controlled rectificier SCR.
C)Booster ignition part includes: ignition coil,high-tension cable,spark plug cap,spark plug.
Battery Ignitor Characteristic

Battery Ignitor Operating Principle
When magneto rotor magnet steel rotates,Magneto within the charging coil L1 induction the ac voltage,after the diode D1 half-wave rectifier,Into pulse dc to energy storage capacitor C1 charging,The charging circuit is L1 upper→diode D1→capacitor C1→Primary ignition coil L3→Ground(Bonding) →L1 Down.
In process,The ignition energy storage in energy storage capacitor C1,When they reach the ignition time(ignition timing),Trigger coil L2 induction the ac voltage,The diode D3 half-wave rectifier,R1 current-limiting, after R2 and C2 shaping,trigger SCR break over,trigger circuit is L2 upper→diode D3→R1→R2,C2→SCR control electrode →cathode→Ground(Bonding) →L2 Down.
After SCR Control gets trigger signal, the cut-off into conduction. The discharging is : C1→SCR anode→SCR cathode→primary ignition coil L3→C1. Energy storage capacitor C1 stored within the power through the primary ignition coil discharge, In the secondary ignition coil L4 on induction out all fell more high voltage, Breakdown spark plug, Make its jump fire, Light engine cylinder in the combustible mixture, Make the engine work.
Note: R2 and C2 Composed of HP network are an indispensable part, which all magneto trigger coil provide trigger signal circuits. The function is that improves the input signal pulse waveform, makes it up and down along the more steeps. It is convenient to reliably contact SCR break over. In circuit, it plays switch role.
